The artist gathers sound recordings of birdsongs heard onsite at Brick Bay. These include Tui, Kereru, Piwakawaka, Matuka-Moana and Pukeko. Ephemeral sonic recordings are then transcribed into hard edged abstract sound notes cut from electropolished stainless steel silhouettes. These fall from the sky on long vertical streams of consciousness.

These are attached to steel wires threaded with hand cut clear tubing. Each sound note visually encapsulates the sound and duration of a particular moment in the bird song with the silences between one sound and the next represented by the lines created by the threaded wires. The sounds have been sequenced like a musical score with each birdsong broken up into timed sectios.

The artwork is suspended high in the Kahikatea trees.
